Nurturing our spirituality is an important goal at West Side. By coming together to learn, discuss and pray, we grow as individuals and as a congregation. Participating in a small group also is a wonderful way to form relationships within the larger congregation.

Lenten Small Groups: The Ninefold Path

Beginning March 1, we will take a six-week journey with the Beatitudes, the ninefold path Jesus offered to his most serious disciples at the beginning of his Sermon on the Mount. As part of this Lenten journey, you are invited to sign up for a small group, during which we will watch a short conversation-sparking video together. Come every week or as often as you are able.

Sundays: 9:00 am, 9:15 am, 10:00 am and 11:30 am
Tuesdays: 7:30 pm at members' homes
Wednesdays: 11:00 am and 6:30 pm
Thursdays: 9:30 am

Weekday Small Groups

Tuesdays with Marc. Join Pastor Marc's group of early risers in the Pulsifer Chapel at 7:30 am on Tuesdays to explore Christ in Crisis: Why We Need to Reclaim Jesus by Jim Wallis. The bestselling author and iconic Christian activist argues that our cultural and political crisis largely stems from how the American church has become disconnected from the teachings of Jesus Christ.  Click here to purchase a book.

Circles of Trust. If you’re serious about deepening your relationship with God, commit to joining a Circle of Trust. Specially trained members of the congregation lead these small groups on a monthly basis for those who want to more fully understand God’s call to themselves and to the church. The tools—prayer, Bible reading, discussion, contemplation—are simple, the effects profound.

The MELT Method. Come learn simple self-care techniques that you can practice at home to remain active, healthy, youthful and pain-free – at any age. The MELT Method class, taught by a certified instructor, meets on Thursdays at 10:30 am in the Pulsifer Chapel; cost is $18 per class for members, $20 for non-members.

Safe on Your Feet. This 45-minute class, led by a trainer, is not just for seniors. It’s for anyone interested in improving their alignment and posture, balance, flexibility, and muscular strength and endurance. Participants gather in DePhillips Hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:15 pm. Cost: $5 per class.
